Could you spare an hour a week to phone an older person who is isolated and in need of some company? This role suits volunteers who enjoy talking and listening to older people, and are kind and engaging.

Advocacy

Would you like to develop your advocacy skills? Are you a retired advocate who would like to use your existing skills? We are looking for volunteers to help us advocate for older people to ensure they access their rights to benefits, pensions, housing and care. This role suits students of law, people who are tenacious and passionate about ensuring the rights of older people.

In-Person Befriending at our Lunch Club

Could you attend our Lunch Club on Thursdays and spend time talking to older people? This role would suit people who enjoy talking and listening to older people, and are kind and engaging. Lunch club is 11am to 3pm, so anytime within that would be suitable.

Website development, social media and other technical skills

Could you help our charity develop our website, and other online presence via social media? Do you have a good knowledge of Microsoft systems, databases, and other tech systems?

Playing Music and Singing

Could you volunteer your time as a musician and/or singer at our Lunch Club and our dementia-friendly clubs and events? You could do this as a one-off or as a once a month/week volunteering role. All music styles welcome, with a particular interest in Irish and folk music.

Drivers

Could you give us two hours per week to help collect food and drinks for the Lunch Club? The Lunch Club is in the Irish Elders Cultural Centre, St Thomas More Hall, 9 Henry Road, London, N42LH

Lunch Club Volunteers

Many roles

9am to 11am - setting up tables and chairs and getting the Lunch Club ready

12.30 to 2.30pm - Serving the food

3pm to 5pm - clear up

​

There is a great atmosphere at the Lunch Club and these roles suit people who would like to get stuck in to the practical side of helping older people.

Office Admin

Could you spend a few hours a week doing admin including filing, data entry, photocopying, listening to voicemails and emailing the messages, general admin volunteering for our casework team? These roles suit people with strong computer skills.
